lowered cars and rain

i'm in houston and when it rains it floods. just wondering about cars who are dropped about 2 inches, do you drive or just wait it out until the water is gone?

i ask because i'm about to drop my car soon with h&r springs

well change of suspension puts more importance on the tires. the increased strain means that you should have tires on the car that are "sporty" not the OEM touring tires. I had springs, struts and sways on OEM tires with 60%+ tread on it. those things becames useless. couldnt take normal turns with out howling and the accel and decel grip was noticeably worse. and the week before on the oem susp it was much more stable. now i have high perf tires and not only is it better, its safer.

in terms of water, get an tire that is good at water evacuation. look on tirerack.com for reviews. the only thing if it floods deep, a cold air intake may be iffy with out a bypass valve.

Its a TL not a LandRover with a snorkel for an air intake!

I am with Kris on this one- if you cant see the road surface-its too deep for you to drive on!!

Dont you watch the news??
Every time it rains in Texas, CNN shows cars and people floating down the street at
20 mph, and the water does strip you naked in seconds if you bail out of the car-
news camera choppers will be there to preserve the moment in time for you to relive over and over.

having gotten caught a few times in a pick-up truck in water
that was a just bit deeper than I believed it to be.....

ahhh the glory days of young and stupid

from off-roading experience, if you had to wade water, just drive through slowly and constantly. you'll create a wake that'll push the water away. too slow, and the wake will fill in. too fast, and you'll splash water up over the hood.

once intake is submerged water enters engine, engine hydrolocks...

my bfgoodrich G-Force Sports have really great dry and wet....

since you asked about a 2" drop and u are goin with hr, im gonna assume you are talking about HR Race Springs... which i have... great springs.. i love em, the one thing that you should be careful of though is that very uneven pavement will cause the back to slide out on you so careful on roads you dont know... im not sure if this is the case with all the springs.

and i agree with JMAL on the uselessness of the OEM tires
