The Local speed shop told me DONT get Tein Coilovers.
I was at a local speed shop with friend. He was gonna purchase some Teins SS for his 03 TL-S. The guy at the shop has a 01 TL-P with the works, and he talked my boy into not buying the Teins. He mentioned that he had them on his car and they rattled so much that he had to change them. He now has koni yellows with a comptech drop and he loves it and recommended it to my boy. We live in Brooklyn, N.Y. with plenty of pot holes and he said, hitting small bumps and pot holes causes it to rattle.
So my question is are the Teins really worth it?

i've got teins, no rattle at all.....at one point there was this little squeeking noise, noticable when i was going pretty slow (parking lots...etc), but that went away on its own.
i personally think the teins are badass because they give you so much room to play with and let you customize your look and ride exactly how you want it. mabye that guy just got a bad set...?
downside...more $$.

Tein SS with edfc no problems whatsoever. Then again Im not slammed like most here are. No noises, no rattles or anything. Best mod ever! Teins ride less rough on the highest setting than the apexi setup imo. (sorry samkws haha) But if u look to autocross maybe the apexi is better suited.

i have teins and the edfc unit. I just love the ride and the different settings it has to offer. no rattles or squeaks, tht guy at the speed shop must be on the crack pipe. I hate speed shops they are always young kids that sell parts and really have no idea about what they are selling.
and they have a nice pretty green color to them

i'm not 100% sure what it is...i don't remember. but i'm at about a 2.1 inch drop and that's all it goes down. i had to raise it a few months ago and it was basically stock height.

I just installed the Tein SS myself and there are no problems with rattling or noise. It is one of the more smoother system i ridden on. Plus i dont trust any sales person because i used to be one of them and its all nothing but lies and opinions.

i think they were looking at the adjust range. on the website, it says the front is 2.1 for the front and 1.7 for the back. and then for the adjust range, i think the 3.5 is the difference from the lowest (2.1 you can put it on the lowest), to the highest setting. so when you're at 0, you can go 1.4 more higher.
well here's the site if you want to check it out

I have Tein SS coilovers on my TL and I love them. The ride is smooth and handling has definitly improved.
I would go with Tein before Apexi cuz I heard the ride on those suck... I'd go with a H&R/koni combo before Apexi too.

Apexi isn't that bad, just that it's firmer
I found Tein SS is softer than Apexi even at the firmest setting, but still not like punishing ride and very smooth overall
