How much air to put in Tires

I'm putting the stock 17s back on my 02TLS,it's been sitting in the shed for about 6 months and air pressure is pretty low. My question is how much air should i add? Since I no longer have the stock Michellin I was wondering if the tire pressure is the same for all tires.I have a goodyear assurance tripletred. The book calls for 32lb psi and 50lb max psi on the goodyear tire sidewall. Is 40lb psi reasonable?

just put 32 psi in and try it, then add 8 more and see how it rides, then choose the better of the two. I run @ 80% of the max pressure in the fronts and a little less in the rears. All personnel preference.

There is a sticker in the driver's door jamb that will tell you what pressures are ideal, according to the factory.

40 sounds high. 30-32 sounds correct.

i run 37 in front and 34 in the back. Even wear across the tread pattern. Adjust the pressure when you rotate them.

I've carefully kept a set of tires per mfr spec of 32 and ended up w/ uneven wear on the outer edge. Tires were rotated at every oil change of 7500 miles.

Thats just a recommended. Like above 80% of max is a good place to start and adjust from there. Every tire and driver is different, and each have a different preference
