How far can you go w/type s wheels?

After debating for a while I've decided to stick with the oem wheels so now I'm wondering how far I can push them out with spacers. They stick into the fenders a lot right now so I want them to look a little more aggressive.

I heard 5mm spacers were the farthest people should go but I cant picture half a cm doing much at all.

I am also curious if you can replace the factory lug nuts with rays extended lug nuts or something a little bit nicer looking with built in locks. These would be preferably black.

So azine, teach me something!

not sure how to measure it but ive read in another thread that 7mm spacers are the highest you should go safely and im also not sure how much they would stick out. just search aggresive wheel offset or somthing. the lugs should also work as long as the threads are the same as oem studs

I dont understand why a larger mm spacer could be any more dangerous. As long as it is bolted on tight and correctly its the same not matter how wide they are right? Somebody elaborate please. Im confused as to why.

think about it....the studs dont get longer when you add spacer's, they get shorter.

the further you move the wheel and lug nuts out, the more stress you put on the end of the studs, and take away from the flat surface of the hub...thats when wheels studs shear off at highway speeds and your wheels pass you by as you hit a cement wall at 70mph.

try this...add a 3/4" of washers to your studs, then try to bolt on your wheel, notice that you only have 1/4" to 1/8" of threads for the lug nut to grab onto? would you feel safe driving around like that?

thanks for the info
i didn't know products like project kics wheel spacers existed.
thats exactly what i was looking for and 15mm should be perfect.

sucks dropping $250 on them but should be well worth it for performance benefits as well as aesthetics.

so second question what kind of nice black lugs can you buy for these wheels?
i know that certain lugs are called tuner lugs and have to be used on certain wheels and not on oem wheels. are there any black non tuner lugs out there?

yeh i was thinking about the gorilla lugs.
they seem just right for my application. not as "flashy" as i would like but not bad.

and don't worry leo; i'll be buying an intake soon enough too.
still in the planning and saving steps as of now.

thanks.
and if i really want to put the money to better use i'd buy better groceries. but i'm fine with eating ramen and microwave bean burritos.

you could always take the 3k you drop on wheels and tires and buy a supercharger but you don't see me saying anything.
