I was just wondering what size width 17' tires will fit my 2002 acura tl type s without rubbing or hitting on bumps. What brand of tires do u guys reccomend for better wet traction and winter handling along with better performance in the summer. I live in toronto ontaio canada. Thanks for your help

thanks for the help, i was still wondering whats the widest tires you can put on an 02 tl-s and also if you could reccomend the best winter/summer performance tire, goin from winter to summer is to much inconvience for me so iam lookin for an allaround performance tire

honestly what you want is a dedicated snow tire and a dedicated summer tire. Thats what i would do personally.
Now to your question, are you on stock rims?

205 is way to narrow for the 17. the stock is 215/50, best all around is probably 225/50 or 225/45 if you dont mind a speedo difference on the 45 series. I have 235/45 on my type s and its a bit too wide. it looks sick but the rim is too narrow and its not as stable on that size rim. there is a floating feeling that is a little frustrating.

yes iam on stock rims but iam thinking of goin with chrome for the summer months possibly. 225 sounds like a better choice for me. I was just wondering what you mean by a speedo diffrence on the 45?? thanks for the help i like the pirellis but i was wondering if the yokohama's would be better?

yokos are great bang for the buck tires, its very popular here.
with 225/50 you are rolling 1.5% slower then stock so you for 60mph is really 60.9
225/45 is 1.9% too fast so 60mph is 58.8mph.
its not as bad as it sounds, didnt mean to scare you. the 225/45 looks better and if that speedo thing doesnt scare you, i would go that route.

Looks to me like 225/50 is the widest section width/aspect that'd *normally* be recommended for the stock 17 x 6.5 wheel. I know some run 225/45, which is the same width, but it is not *normally* recommended for a 6" wheel.
Based on everything I've found the BS 960AS Pole Position & Yoko Advan S4 are the best overall All Season Performance tire. Goodyear has a new All Season version of the F1 which looks good, but is too new to have a track record.

I've got a bone-stock 2003 TL Type S. I have an opportunity to obtain a set of new Michelin tires, 225/60R 17 at an exceptionally low price. I've looked all over, but I cannot find a definitive answer about fit. I'm running stock 17 inch wheels. Do I have enough clearance to use these tires without having to worry about rubbing. I'm pretty sure I'm ok with the 225 width, but the 60 aspect ratio leaves me concerned. Thanks.

225/60? That's gonna throw off your speedo and odometer something fierce.
The speedo's gonna say 55 when you're doing 60. The stock diameter is ~25.5 inches. With 225/60 it gonna be ~27.6 inches.
Your sidewall height will go from ~4.2 inches to ~5.3 inches.
I think it'll look hideous.

My advice is to go to tirerack.com and do comparisions and veiw the consumer survey results.
There is also a tire size calculator at 1010tires. This will tell you wheter a particular size is a standard fit or not. If it's off by more than 3% you'll get a warning message.

When I bought the Pole Positions for an '02 TL-S, the Bridgestone Firestone store said they didn't have 'em "anywhere in the district" and tried to "cross sell" me the Turanza - at a tidy $60 more per tire (IIRC).
