Help Needed with Strut Replacement

2009 Acura TL: I have just finished replacing the front struts, following a Haynes manual. All went well, I thought, until I lowered the car off jacks. The two new front struts had their shafts poke through the hole in the body where they are mounted to the car. I have obviously done something wrong.. like put a part on wrong.

I would like to post a picture but do not have that option yet, new user.

Is there a thread with photos showing some detail in reassembling and installing the strut and spring assembly? I have searched but without luck. thanks..

^you forgot to install a washer. without that washer, the shock shaft will go through shock tower every time.

no one uses the acurazine photo uploader, we all upload photos to an external site like photobucket and then post the link here.

butt, I know exactly what you are talking about because when I re-assembled my shocks, i forgot the washer, and the shock shaft went through the shock tower.

Ugh.. I see the washer on the old struts. I suppose it sits on the shaft where the diameter is larger and pushes up against item 9, keeping it from going through. Thanks for the quick reply. I took the day off work to get this done, you saved me precious time trying to figure out what I did wrong. Thanks, really.
