Hankook Ventus S1 evo

Well i had a tire that got a gash on the sidewall from a pot hole(luckily missing the rim) I needed tires like NOW as im heading out of town this afternoon, and of course NO ONE in the area has 235/40/18 (or 225) without ordering them in (usually takes 3-5 days for most) So the one store i went to had the Ventus S1 Evo in the size i needed. So im going to try them out. They are a Max Performance tire with a 280 tread wear. Havent been able to find any good reviews on them but ill post my review of them after this weekend travel with them. I really wanted to get the F1 GSD3 or the new Asymmetrics but oh well maybe next time.

Do you still have your stock rims? You could put those on temporarily if you don't want to rush into buying a new tire for your C2s.

Yea but they have my good snow tires on. I bought them, so far they are really nice. they are quiet and have great grip. i havent pushed them yet, trying to break them in.

With the F1 GSD3s i always ran they had a 280 and i could get 35-40k out of them. Im hoping to get close to them. If not i wont be to disappointed. They were 60 bucks a piece cheaper.

Well after about 1000 miles on them so far i have to say im impressed. They are Very quiet, track well on the road and have great grip. Wet grip isnt as good as my beloved Goodyear F1 GSD3s but then again nothing is. Period... Ive pushed a few corners now and they are predictable and stable. I havent completely found the limit yet but its pretty high.

So far for the price i dont think you can go wrong. Ill update when more mileage.

Oh and the dry braking grip is Phenomenal. I can push the brake almost 100% without lockup. There is so much grip the brakes aren't sufficient any more and need bigger binders

errr, uhh, Hmm, guess you are having a hard time reading my mind.

I mean that you will upgrade your brakes and they will outdo your rubber, etc, etc. the cycle begins.

Made sense in MY head.

Ohhhhhhhhh thats what the voices in your head were saying to you

Yea probably..

Another Update..

Well we have had A LOT of rain the lest few days. (my rain gage shows over 5" in 2 days) and in the monsoon i had to drive home in last night they did great on the hwy. There was a lot of standing water (2+ inches in many areas ) most of the cars were pulling off the interstate because it was raining so hard for a while there. The tired did very little to no hydroplaning in a severe amount of water. I was impressed.

Okay I hate reviving archived threads and I know this thread is nearly one year old, but how are they after a year of use? Decent treadwear? I'd PM you but you have to be a member for 15 days and at least 5 posts. I've got a VW GTI and I'm looking into these tires but no one really has reviews on them. I saw your review on Tire Rack as well.

Again, sorry for the bump.

Fsttyms1, you picked a very light-weight tire, which should be even better for performance due to the resulting lower unsprung weight.

That tire was awesome. I almost purchased them again. I got 35k out of them (including 2 track days) and would have gotten more out of them if it weren't for a bad alignment that ate teh inside edge of my front tires. I would recommend them (only problem is it looks like its becoming a discontinued tire??
