H/R Sports Vs. Race

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and have picked up a TL as weekend beater. I have been looking at it for quite sometime and it looks as if the UA5 is a great platform if you want to go towards the sports luxury tune.

My question for you guys is:

Can you see much of a difference between the Race springs and the Sport springs?

It seems that the Race has a very aggressive staggered drop. This is definately something i can not deal with due to the location of my residence.

Can you guys please post some pictures of 3.2TL's with a race spring, and sport spring drop please.

Thank you in advance,

Michael Goodspeed

Main difference is the amount of drop and ride quality. If your not looking to go into the weeds id stick with the sport. Its a better riding spring. If you want to go as low as the race you might as well geta good set of coilovers.

Thank you for the reply fttyms1. The main question was, this the drop between the sports and race really noticeable? I have ordered the tein SS as well but not sure if i would like to keep them.

Thank you,

Yes the drop difference is noticeable. But if you are getting Tein SS, you will love them as many other members have.

Yeah I would definately go with the sport springs. Countless people have them on this site. Plus I think its looks alot better than the 'slamed' thing alot of people seem to be do. Funny how I blow by them on street when there swerving to avoid every little pothole....

Race springs won't make your car slammed, you will have a 1 finger gap all around.

There's a guy in your area with an 01 TL-P on H&R's, forgot if they were sport or race, but you could at least get an idea on how your car might look if you chose whichever he had. His name is Tam, and its a WDP TL-P with black-housing headlights, sidemarkers, a full OEM kit, chrome S-rims, and the Honda and Saber emblems. You'll come across his car I'm sure, just flag him down.

Make sure to tell him I said he's a momma's boy, and that my car is sexier

Another vote for the sport springs... I have them on my car and they are just the right amount of drop... not too low...but cleans up the wheel well gap nicely... With just a little sacrifice to ride quality...

HR Race. If looks is what you're looking for.

Nice drop heard the ride is still good but will sacrifice ride on the bumps.

Ask LEWD he has them. Check my thread HR race vs Neuspeed race.

ride is definitely still good to me, i take my grandmother out and she hasnt complained, neither has my mother, no one has, you will feel a little more on the bumps, but thats also because of my low pros, i dont think its too low, as im gonna go lower on koni yellows next summer, if you are worried about being too low, i think the deal breaker will be whether or not you have a kit or not. as me and Gordy are about the same height off the ground, but i have less fender gap because he has the lip kit and i dont

tonight ill try to measure my car and see exactly how high off the ground it is
