G2 Caliper paint update 1 year later..

Don't know if this is right section to post so mods please move if necessary.

Just wanted to give some feedback on the G2 Epoxy caliper paint I put on the TL a little over a year ago...

Little over a year ago I put some SERIOUS time into correctly painting my calipers all black with a paint called "G2". I sanded down the calipers and put 3 coats on each one. They came out perfect but only 1 year later and about 20K miles they have all started flaking off somewhat badly.. Guess it's time for another coat. I'll post some pics here in a bit.

So to those considering the G2 beware that it starts to flake off ALOT faster than they claim..

Powdercoat them FTW! I did mine and my brackets (black caliper, candy red brackets) over a year ago. Its my DD and even with new england winters the finish is the same as the day 1.

G2 caliper paint? Really? I just bought some for my wife's TSX ...

I mean ... most important is prep work before painting (ie sanding down, lots of degreaser, etc)

Does it tell you to apply 3 coats? I think the info from the website / youtube video, 1 application is more than enough if you brush it on.

I bought a different caliper paint for my TL-S (can't remember the name, but it was German stuff ... 'autobahn tested' ... LOL ... and it turned out well, lasted quite a while and there was enough for me to apply on 3 different cars!)

I used G2 paint on my Mazda 3, 4 years of Northeast winters and the paint is perfect. It's all in the prepwork, if yours is flaking, you did something wrong.

When you say sand it down, what grit of sandpaper should I be getting? Does a wire brush provide the same type of cleaning power?

I used a wire brush and hoping for the best. Did that with my TL (but used Folia-tec kit on that car) and got 3-4 years worth and it still looked pretty good.

Will tell you how well it goes on my wife's TSX down the road ...
