Function and Form Type I

Well this might be a dumb question but i rather be safe than sorry when i put my F2's on. I think that i got this right i searched and googled it so let me know if im right or wrong! On the F2 Type I you adjust the ride height with the bottom portion of the shock where the gold ring is. You DO NOT touch the top two (red) perches what so ever? That is the spring rate/ preaload setting? its all adjusted from the bottom? If someone could please chime in and let me know i would really appriciate it thanks...

so do i take the whole bottom portion of the shock off and then srew and unscrew the middle threads or is it just as simple as just unscrewing the gold ring and adjusting it and then tightening the gold ring back up when you have the desired height sorry abou the noob questions...

You adjust from bottom only.... Leave the coils alone. Unscrew bolt from lower portion of shock and twist to desired height.

^^thats what i was thinking just wanted to make sure before i actaully did install them i didnt want to do it wrong and mess up the preload or blow the shock in a week or two you know? But i think that i got it down now! Dont touch the red perches on top just the bottom gold ring needs to be loosened and adjusted to desired height and then twist the bottom portion of the shock to the gold ring and make sure its snug against the shock body?

confused? Once you twist the bottom of shock to desired height--- the top two rings have to be tightened on top.. Bottom is threaded and can not move once re-bolted back in with bottom bolt.

i know that part i was talking about the suspension not placed on the car. I know if you want to adjust the height once the coils are on the car you have to unbolt the bottom bolt the one holding the fork then make your adjustments. Right? But the TOP 2 red perches are NOT TO BE MESSED WITH!!!! only the gold ring and bottom of the shock should be adjusted?

You are correct.. Just lock the gold ring down at bottom when you reach the desired height

let me clarify a little better than that. lol

release lower shock perch(gold)

use the bigger wrench on the top spring perch(red)

turn the TOP one left to lower as if you were locking the top red perch to the lower red perch.

to RAISE the car...

turn the BOTTOM red spring perch right as if you were tightening the spring perches together.
