flaking chrome rims

hey wuts good fam i always come here for the great advice. u guys r valuable source of info..
bought some rims w/tires for 100...2 of the rims r great lil rust spots from not taking off in the winter no big deal..but other 2 need a lil work..som peeling in the inner rim and around the center piece. ne ideas to slow this down?? powdercoating? plating?? im in ohio help me out

If they're chrome and they're peeling, there is no way to stop it.

My suggestion is to have them professionally stripped and then either re-chromed or powdercoated.

Chrome cannot be repaired.

Definitely go w/ powdercoat, a professional wheel guy can probably do it for ~$110 a wheel or so. That usually includes media-blasting the orginals down to bare metal, so they can do their thing.

My rims looked like shiiit too. Lips were all curbed and I guess the weather and my lack of maintenance did a number on mine. I just got mine powdercoated gold and got the lips polished to mirror finish. Much cheaper than buying new rims.

most of the time you can just blast off the chrome.. you will probably need to get it removed chemically to have it done right..

just what ive read/heard

Could be. But businesses that are in this line of work usually have a flat rate per wheel, no matter what it takes so I say, shop around and find what you like.
