24" Rims!!!
Ok, I want to put 24" bad boys on my 03 3.2 TL and want to know what I need to do to be able to do this... If anyone has any advice about this or suggestions either telling me how or not to do it, it would be much appreciated.

Our TL/TLS come with 6.5" rims with +55 offset, made my Enkei. General rule (but not always the case since there is some variation among manufacturers):
7" rim = +42 offset
7.5" rim = +45 offset
8" rim = +48 offset
> 8.5" rim ... forget it unless you wanna do some custom bodywork for it to fit.

Rims range from 16" to 19" for our cars. Any smaller and they won't clear the OEM calipers. Any larger and you will have issues with 'rubbing'. I'm sure someone will say, "I got [XX] size to fit", but seriously -- look at their setup and most will not find that look very appealing.
Rim width and offset go hand-in-hand. Depending on your rim width, you have to watch the offset. The wider the rim, the higher the offset (so it doesn't rub up against the wheel well or plastic tabs of the fender when you hit a bump).

This is only a guideline, not an end-all, be-all. Those who have done suspension work may have to find a higher offset than that posted to make sure their application will not have any problems.
Lastly, bolt pattern -- our cars have 5x114.3JJ bolt pattern. Luckily, many rim manufacturers make this bolt pattern but offset will be your limiting factor.

Once you find out what size you're looking for, then do a search on rim style. Hondas are notorious for high offsets (thus, little "deep dish" rims). Your choice in rims in 18", 19" applications are somewhat limited.
To find out what tire size fits, use this size calculator:

Is it possible to run a 19x8.5 and +53 offset (in the rear only [my fronts would be 19x7.5, +53]) with a H&R Sports drop and nothing beyond cutting bumper tabs? I've read that it will fit no problem with that offset but I am concerned about rubbing due to the wide wheel. I think the debate would be between 225's and 235's (for instance the ST-115 that is naturally stretched) but I'm not sure if it is safe to run a 225 on a 8.5" wheel?
I know that with an H&R Sports drop you can fit 19x8's with a +45 offset or higher but tabs need to be cut and the tire must be right. Not sure on the 8.5 for the rear though...
Thanks.

I wouldnt say that a 19 x8 and 45 offset will def fit. You may only need to trim teh tabs, but depending on the wheel or tire, it may need more to work.
I know some guys with 19 x8's with 47 offsets would, or woudl not rub depending on tire manufacturers. One guy on this board with the same rims I had rubbed a little with Yoko's whereas I didnt at all, not even the bumper tabs with Proxes, and 235/35-19's.

It is very hard for people to comment on what fits specifically or not because, as mentioned, each manufacturer is unique in the way the wheel is constructed. If you look at Rev-01's posting on the first page of his past wheels you can see that some wheels didn't rub while others did when they were the SAME width. Tires (not only width of tire, but also the actual design by the manufacturer) make a difference, as does the drop you have/ camber setting you are at. If you have a camber kit but are lowered 3" then it'll be much harder to not rub, almost impossible, as compared to if you can tuck your wheel. If you want to be slammed but still drive frequently without camber issues/tire wear my suggestion is to get air ride. I'm in the market for 19" Works, as many people have seen my posts, and I'm not going to be slammed on them because I drive my car daily pretty far to work, I'm only lowered on H&R Sports. When I buy a new daily driver my car will get coilovers. It's all based on you, your drop, your wheel brand, your tires, your offset, etc. etc. There are so many factors its hard for peeps to come on here and say, "yes, that specific setup by that manuf. will work on your car" unless they themselves have done it. Even the Type-S struts are stiffer than TL-P struts, creating a difference in what fits/rubs/rides smoothly. Just some stuff to consider.

Because they don't have a clue about our car. They assume that people will tolerate the wheels sticking out of the wheel well and that they most likely will not drop the car.

Yes they will bolt up, but if you have any plans on dropping the car, I would not even bother with the 8.5" width. The 8" width will still stick out but you may be able to get them to fit without rubbing by trimming the fender tabs and rolling the fender lips a little.

i have a set of TSX rims.. can the stock wheels work with our gen TL?
i believe they are 215/50/17
or would it be better to use 235/45/17?
the tsx rims are 17x7 with an offset of 55.

Great Info!!!...wish I had it before getting my set-up
I have RonJon Inspires 19X8.5 w/+42 offset and they rub bad (see pic below)...however, the other two issues to consider are tire size, I have 245/35/19, (I have been told 235's won't rub) and amount of drop, I am about a 1/2 finger gap all the way around.
To remedy the situation, I am looking at raising the car to a finger or finger and a half and rolling or shaving the fenders. I take it to the body shop next Monday...we'll see how it all turns out.
Here's how it looks now...I love it!! Except, it rubs way too much...

Hey guys im new and i just saw this thread. I was wondering if 18 x 7.5 w/ +38 offset would have a problem rubbing? If you could tell me what size tire i should use that would help a lot.

Answer: A rim that's 18"x7.5", offset +38 is too low. You need a minimum of +45 for a safe fitment. Some say it can be lower, but +45 is a safe place to start. (Higher offset than +45 ... virtually no chance of rubbing that requires any fender modification.)
Tire choice: 225/40/18 is narrower and less likely to rub than 235/40/18.
