Chrome Vs. Salt/snow
need to ask this question....waiting for my chrome wheels to arrive and install...was talking with my son-in-law and he made what sounds like a valid concern, though with him you got to be careful...he's harmless, but comes up with some things you don't know where he got it from...kinda pulls this crap out of his ass as my daughter sometimes says about him...but, he said that here in the northeast (NYC) the snow and salt can damage chrome wheels...I should save my OE wheels, instead of selling them, and get another set of tires and mount them on the OE's and use them during the winter months..then change back in the spring time to the chromes....what's the verdict out there....'specially from you 'Noreasters...thanx all

I would recommend it. Chrome over time will pit / corrode. Best to keep the OEM rims (you won't et much for them anyways) for winter use and keep the chrome rims for spring/summer/fall (Apr - Nov) ... at least 6 months of the year, you'll be fine. Just be sure to wait for the first good rainfall to make sure the salt is off the roads (or you wash your rims fairly often at the beginning).
That's what I did with my Volks -- use them only for summer and OEM rims for the winter. 17" winter tires can be pricey, so you have to weigh the pros and cons of keeping OEM rims (that's if you have a Type-S ... if you have the OEM 16" rims for a non-Type-S car, then 16" winter tires are a lot cheaper!)

get a used set of 16" TL or Accord wheels and put snow tires on them...chrome and salt = bad times for your wheels..trust me..i used to live in Minnesota and you might as well bring french fries when you drive..plenty of salt on the road
