5x100 - 5x114.3 conversion?

is this possible to change a 5 x 100 into a 114.3?
if so, is there a bad side to it..
thanks

No, you can't change the bolt pattern on a wheel. You could run an adapter, but that's usually not a good idea.

adapters will cut into your offset and finding wheels with enough offset to begin with is a b*tch.

Not completely true. A wheel repair shop can fill the holes and then redrill them to be 5x114.3.

Would I do it? HEEEEEELLLLL NO!!! You could be dealing with structural integrity issues if they do it wrong.

I dont know if this would work on this car ive never taken the wheel off cause I dont have the key for the locks
I also own a Thunderbird and we have the same problem most people switch to a Mustang hub in the front with the bigger brakes and have the rear hubs redrilled to fit the Mustang bolt pattern, the front we can find in the junkyard but the rears would have to come off a Cobra and they are a little harder to come across, and ive never heard of anyone having a problem

Its an idea maybe just have the hubs and brakes redrilled????

By time you did that and spent the money, finding someone who wont mess it up Trying to do that you could have easily bought a pair of rims to fit the car correctly

True but there are alot of people that want a certain wheel and cant get it in their bolt pattern

You could do it your self if you know some one who uses CAD just have them draw up a pattern and take you time drilling thats how we do it

Bolt pattern isnt really the issue with our cars, its offset and thats not something we can make different. Finding something with the correct offset is far harder than the correct bolt pattern

5x114.3 is one of the most common bolt patterns in the industry.

STI is 5x114.3 but the center bore is too small to fit.

If you bring the wheel to a machinist, they can punch the center out to the right size. my friend did that with a set of miata wheels for his SI. They machined the wheels out using the spare for the size. my .02

if the offset is too low, could you toss in a spacer for a few mm and have it fit? someone told me it'll work just fine

A spacer would throw it the wrong way and go even lower.

Not true. Depends on tire size, wheel size, and width. Why do so many people on here only do what "bolts right up"? Thats not customizing, thats throwing parts on. C'mon Kris, you did that bad-ass swap in your TL, making it a TL-S 6, and you make it seem like rolling fenders is out of the question. If you roll fenders and cut tabs, you can fit offsets below +40! I mean no disrespect, but considering the one-off work you have put into your car, I would think you would be the last person to say half the things you do about offsets.

Well we mostly state what we do because MOST dont want to have to roll fenders and possibly damage their paint. They want what bolts on. Im starting to think there is a big difference in front fenders between the 99-01 and the 02-03. I can tell you with out a doubt that there is NO way i could get a +40 (18x7.5) on my car and no amount of fender rolling would change it. My +50 is flush with the front fenders. (and nothing is different due to my swap) I put a +38 18x8 and it stuck out a solid 3/4-1 inch in the front

That is very strange. I thought they were the same. I know I didn't get a freak fitment or anything, because I talked djescobar into getting some TSWs with my same specs and with rolled fenders and cut tabs he is rub-free as well. Hmmm. Now I'm curious to see if there in fact IS a difference in the flare of the fenders from 99-01 and 02-03. How would we find this out?

I don't know if there is a difference or not but I rolled on a set of 18x8 +40 in the front and only rubbed occasionally over big bumps going fast. I really think it depends on the manufacturer and the tire size.

Im prettly low with no negative camber, and my 19x8 +40 have never rubbed in the front. Wheel offsets do vary slightly from manufacturer to another, but VERY slightly. I just don't understand how fsttyms1 runs a +50 and its flush. That doesnt make sense to me. A +50 should be recessed in a little.

It isnt exactly flush but its less than 1/4 (225/40 tire is flush) inch which is what roughly 4mm?
All i know is from what ive tried and seen
