+40 offset for 17's? hmmm....

Okay, now I have been one of the people on this site that have demanded at least a +45 offset when people ask stupid questions about rims, so I'm going to chime in with one of my own here. I like these chrome rims that are a 17x7 with a +40 offset but I'm unsure if this whole ''you need a +45 offset'' carries over for 17's as well. I have no drop on my car whatsoever even though I do have a system in the trunk, but would these fit without rubbing? I can't imagine 17's rubbing but who knows, I'm not a tire expert. Help me out! Thanks in advance.

you will be okay on a 7", just make sure is not 7.5, 7 with a +40 is almost the same as 8 with +52

what i mean is face on both measurements. of course there will be lot of room at the back with a 7

even with a 7 inch 40 is going to be cutting it close. the factory wheel is +55 for a reason. typically +45 is as low as you want to go. (the stock CL-S wheel is a 7 inch wide and a +55 also) you are just asking for troubles going that low
