235/45r17?

When I bought my car it had 235/45R17's on the stock wheels and its time to replace them. Any thoughts on going back to 215/50 or other options?

There's nothing wrong with going back to a different size if that's what came with the car from the factory, especially if you're on stockies.

Make sure to get an alignment as well.

Is there an advantage/disadvantage to keeping the wider size?

Are you on 2G stockies, or 3G stockies?

Then I'd go with 2G OEM size tires.

The benefit of a wider tire is the added contact patch, for better handling.

The disadvantage would be the very slight negative affect it would have on gas mileage. Wider tires also create more understeer.

Not to mention the cosmetic but frustrating and constant filth on the fenders behind them!

Get 225-45R17s. Not too wide, they're actually perfect IMO. Run them at 36 psi.

New tires needed

My Goodyear F1s 225/45ZR/17 are whipped. I want to try a different brand. Opinions?

225/45-17, just got new tires a week ago and i'm loving the slightly wider tires. The car is more responsive and grips well on corners. I went with the Riken Raptor ZR, I know everyone will say should of gotten something better. =P

I went with General Exclaim UHP's and they're working great! Very grippy, responsive and they look good too.

I want an All Season tire & was looking @ Falken & Yokohama. The Goodyear's cupped and are noisy as hell.

Ended up going with Eagle F1's in a 225. Not much different in handling being I started with 235's but i like it. Nothing better than new tires!

Just got rid of my Eagle F1. Tires were great up until about 50% tread. Then it get progressively louder, almost like when your CV joint is going bad. Tire rack survey is right on the money. That's why I went w/ the General exclaim

I had the F1's. They got soo loud that Goodyear sent me a set of Eagle GT's for free and $100 to have them mounted and balanced.
