i just bubbled up my tires and im going to change 2 tires.
i see a pair of Michelin Pilots going real cheap on ebay, but they're 225/50/17, could i run these in the front and the stock 215/50/17s in the back? would this work out the same way it does for BMW's and stuff? pleae dont flame me. thanks

ya should be fine, just make sure the overall diameter is the same or they will look different.

not just that # changes the overall tire diameter. go to this site, put your stock size in, then the other tires in, and see if they are the same diameter. I really dont think it will matter if they are off some from the front to the back.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
215/50-17 4.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.0in 792 0.0%
225/50-17 4.4in 12.9in 25.9in 81.2in 780 1.5%

so im guessing is this okay?
would the 225 in the front allow me to get better off the line?
or am i stupid in doing this mix and i shud just look for stock size? thanks

wont do anything to help off the line, unless they are very "sticky" because the width difference is minimal. I assume the speedometer goes off the front wheels? Someone will need to verify which wheels it reads off, because the two wheels are different.

Best case, is you wait a little bit longer and get the same size all around.

I have to agree with OU. Just wait to get all the same sized tires or just go out and get some Toyo Proxys. Seriously though, getting different tire sizes messes with the handling of your car by having more grip on one end of the car then the other. The implications can go on and on. Getting the same tires on all four tires is extremly important if you want consistant handling.
I have different tires on the front (215/60/16) that are 20000K newer than the rears (205/60/16) and the back end definatly has a tendency to slide during any moderate cornering. You can find decent deals if you call around and there is a tire size listing in the new Superstreet that gives the type of tires and the ones that are made in that size. Look it up, I'm sure you will find it handy.
If you want a recommendation: Toyos Proxys all the way. Les Shwab offers financing or any other local tire dealership if you are presssed for money.
