225/55/R16 on a 99 TL, questions?
Hi Guys I am going to be buying new tires soon and I am leaning towards Continetal Conto Extreme Contacts in 225/55/R16 on my stock 16x6.5" 99 tl-p rims. First off will there be any rubbing issues or speedo issues since I will be going to a lower sidewall and wider tread? also will snow be a problem for these tires to handle well in, consdering they are wider? Lastly does anyone here have experience using these tires and what was your take on them?

225/55-16 will fit fine on a 6.5" wheel with no rubbing issues whatsoever. The rolling diameter is as close to stock as you could possibly get (25.69" vs 25.74")
I'm definitely not the one to answer the snow question coming from Hawaii. But I do understand that a wider tire is not necessarily the best for snow handling.

Yesterday I got my Continental ContiExtremeContacts put on my 99 TL. I went with 225/55/VR16's and the difference is very noticeable. my car feels much more connected to the road and more stable than ever before. these tires are very beefy compared to the stock sized tires and the tread width looks great on the car, much more aggressive. These tires get very good traction even from a stop and cornering and handling overall is significantly improved. I only have 50 miles on them so far and I've read that it takes a few thousand miles before they start to perform closer to their peak. I am a very happy camper.

I got these for my aunt's Lexus ES 300 and they're absolutely awesome tires!! Grip is unbelievable on dry and wet conditions and exceptional on snow!!
I wish they made'em in 315/35/17s so I could use'em on my LS1 TA... oh well..
Great choice.. enjoy'em!!

Acura TL 2002 Drop
I've lowered my car with Eibach Sport Kit springs, Tokiko ( The Blue ) and no problem with it. I used the stock rims with 225/55/16 with the Yokohama YK420( 30K miles warranty ). The car ride quiet, no scrap. But i don't know about riding these tires in the snow. I have not done it, i live in california where there is no snow all year round. Anyway Yokohama came out with the new set of YK520( 60K miles warranty ). I will change to it when my tire reach 30K.

I know that is true, but I am telling you guys these tires handle great in the snow. It snowed 3 days after I bought them about 4inches or so and they go great traction in it, much better than any 205/60/R16 I have had on my car. Steering response is much tighter also. I still can't get over your member name assclown. why assclown?
