225/40/18 to small for not lowered???

i have a 03 type-s and found a good deal on a set of 18" mrr gt1. very interested in buying them, but do you think the tires(225/40/18) are a lil small for a TL thats not lowered and there would be too big of a open gap? i just dont want too spend money to make my car look worst or fuun(off-road). opinion /advise? thanks

I have 45s on mine but, I think that the wheel gap is pretty big whatever we do. It does help though and the speedometer and trip will now measure correctly.

thats exactly what i thought. theres already a pretty big gap there now with the stock 17" n 50s so i can imagine 40s. what you think would be the "perfect" wheels/tires size for our 2gen with No lowering?

You could run 225/45 which are a bit taller than stock, and will fill up the fender BUT it will look like fat doughnuts rather than sporty low profiles. I say do it right; run 40's and drop it.

i had 235/40's on my inspyres a year ago and it looked way better than the 225/40's

maybe even go 235/45 if you can find it.

whatever you do, don't go 225/40, you will hate it a your 18's will look like 16's

thanks for the advise! im definitely not gonna buy the 225. my stock tires are going bald, so im looking for a wheels tire package asap! plus its a good excuse to upgrade. im tring to stay away from having to lower the car. would 19" or 20" fill the gap the best and tire size recommened for either? sorry for the noob questions, just dont want to regret it.

You want to keep it the stock size dia or you will throw off the speedo. The only way to fill the gap is to lower it. So look for tires that are closer to the stock dia, (225/45, 235/40). It will however look better with a subtle drop.
