Question 2000 TL - Suspension Recommendations for High Mileage Daily Driver

Hi Guys,

I drive between 60k and 80k a year, and I have been using a 2000 TL for the last 4 months. My TL now has 215k on it and it had 187k at time of purchase. The front right upper ball joint has gone out on it, and I am looking to replace most of the front suspension components (control arms, ball joints, struts, springs, etc).

I would also like to get some 18" wheels for it to use in the summertime. I live in Ohio so I will have a separate set of wheels for winter. Due to my job and being in different locations that are not predictable, I do not want to lower the car.

I'm looking into ordering all of the parts, and so far have been looking at Moog parts. All of the parts I have put on the car up to now have been OEM from the dealer. Would aftermarket suspension parts be recommended over the OEM parts? The Moog stuff is about 50% of the price of OEM parts from the dealer. What would be recommended for struts (stiffer or softer)?

Here are links to the MOOG control arms I'm looking at:

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am currently is somewhat of same boat with bad upper ball joints. I found a full kit on 1aauto.com for $180 (tie rods inner and outer, upper control arm w/ball joints, lower control arm, lower ball joints, and stabilizer links) my dad bought this same kit for his Nissan Maxima and has put about 30k on it within 2 years without any issues. I mean seems like a good deal to me for $180 and I've seen the brand 1st hand not giving any issues
