Weird RPM Problem about to drive me crazy!

So...

I had a problem a little ways back. The car ran/drove fine no engine issues except for a warm startup issue. The engine would start, but the idle would drop to 300rpm approx. So I cleaned the IACV adjusted the idle screw and nothing. The damn thing wouldn't improve. So I went on a hunch and said I bet its the TPS. And it appears to be so. I put a OMNI TPS on it and calibrated it to Acura Spec. which is 4.5v WOT and .49 closed. Then I had a high idle problem and backed it down to .47 closed and that solved that problem.

Now, when i'm driving. I press the gas down a little aggressively, to get up to highway speed, the engine will rev fine then for a sec drop, then bounce back up. It doesn't seem to do this when i'm in SS-mode. At least it hasn't done it yet. If I play around with the TPS position it goes away, but then my warm idle sucks.

There has to be a happy medium here. Any suggestions?

After the new OMNI TPS did you do a ECU reset to have the car Idle Learn ?

I reset the ECU, but I didn't let it idle for 10 min to program the idle... I don't see that affecting the higher RPM range, but I'll give it a shot.

I have a new purge valve and hose coming in this week so i'll wait until after I recieve them.

Reset the ECU and let it run until both fans come on twice and let it run for other 10 min
No load of course and I believe you have to do a TPS learning too ...swear to God , I
read it in a Honda service Bulletin but let it in the desktop at work .
If you want it then I will post it tomorrow while at work .OK

Sure post it if you can..

The symptoms got worse today... This is the first time we have recieved rain since it has been performed and it was at an all time worse today. Accelerator was down, RPM jumping up and down while going through the gears, cruising idle jump, not wanting to shift into 4th when driving slow. It was a clutter of sh*t today.

I'm thinking I have a vacuum leak somewhere. Thats the only thing I can think off. I'll do the reset on the ecu, idle learn, and if you can get me the TPS learn I'll do that too. I need something in the positive direction this car is driving me f'n ape sh*t

oh, and once again it doesn't do it in sport shift mode, until you get to 4th then it does some RPM jumping.

Ok, problem solved...

In case anyone wants to know... For future reference. DO NOT BUY THE OMNI TPS!!! They say it works for the J-Series Engines... They are wrong.. I put my stock TPS back on calibrated it to Acura Specs once again and my car works fine.

I noticed a problem with the Omni TPS. The issue seems to be with the resting position of the sensor. They set it too high. When you install the TPS you have to raise the cars idle with the throttle position and when you do that it sets the throttle plate too open. The engine apparently can not match the TPS read out with the actual air flow. Thats my guess because my car was starving for fuel from the sounds of it. It was choking on air and starving on fuel. When I filled my gas take full it went away until I got 50 miles into my tank and the symptoms started again. So the tank being fuel must have pressurized it enough so that the engine wasn't starving.

This is my guess to what was going on.

I don't know what to do in my situation? Every time I turn on my car, the rpm is always up around 1500 rpm and once the car warm up, the car has a hard vibration at idle. Can anybody tell me what wrong with my car? I am thinking it has to do with TPS? One day I got CEL and I erased the code.

Acura2g, I'm having the same problem as you are, with the revving down to 300. So, pretty much the way to fix it is to calibrate the TPS to acura specs? How do I do that?
Sorry, don't mean to threadjack.

on honda and acura engines if there is air in the coolant and you dnt have enough coolant in the car idols wierd its kinda like a safe mode on the car wut i did when this happend i cracked open the radiator cap and left it on the safty latch and started it up
i let it run for about 5 -10 min and shut it off and topped off the fluid
also note that u should check the over flow tank to see if theres ne thing in there if not then fill that too

Can anyone tell me how to calibrate the TPS, or point me towards a DIY?
I am having the exact same problems. I took it to the Honda dealer and they replaced my IACV to "fix the problem", which didn't really help. and now When I'm driving at about 60mph, every thirty seconds or so, it revs up then down real quick, almost like I accidentally hit the gas.
