water in trunk fix

I read the other posts and knew there had been water in my trunk, but I pulled the plug at the bottom as a temporary measure.

I thought I would post pictures of my repair, it really is easy and does not cost much time in materials and time.

I used Bath and tub silicone from GE from Home Depot.

I used the silicone in a logical pattern. The extra course on the back side of seal was redundant since I cleaned the car side and caulked around.

I hand tightened the nuts on the inside of the car and will mechanically tighten tomorrow.

Hope this helps. easy job and its clearly a problem for these crappy gaskets.

it will be nice to have a water tight trunk. I am going to use light bleach and water mix to kill any mold around spare tire well. soap and water to rinse.

Yep- I've used the clear silicone on quite a few Hondas/Acura taillights. Always works well

Is it always the right side taillight that leaks or could it be coming from a different location?
