Vibrating after 120 kmph
Vibrating after 120 kmph
Hey everyone, i was wondering if any mechanics out there would know the solution to my issue. I just put my summer rims on my TL02 and i noticed when i go over 120 my car vibrates like a massage chair. I used these rims before, actuall 2 seasons before and never encountered this problem. The size of the tires are 225/40/18. I have used the same size tires 2 years in a row but these are brand new. I asked the shop that installed them and they say that they are sure they balanced them to 0. Im hoping its not my suspension, but no evidence points to that. Im also running a 2 inch drop on both ends and im getting a camber kit installed in a few days. I dont think its related to the camber kit tho because i've never had this problem in the past. Also do those black hub rings make a big difference? I have em all all 4 of my tires but i know one is cracked but still able to hug the center hub.
Any clues?

Are the wheels centered on the hubs. Alot of times the aftermarket wheels are not the same size as the stock wheel and the wheel gets mounted off center. The tires could be balanced to zero and the car could still shake. Also are the wheels torqued on or impacted. When I install my summer rims I make sure the wheels are centered by tightening the lugs by hand while making sure the rim is in the center. I then torque them to 85ft lbs and I have never had a problem.
Also 120 is more then twice the legal limit so I imagine if you had a worn suspension piece or a slighly warped rotor that could cause your car to vibrate. I don't know of any shop that will try to diagnose your problem though.
