Unusual issue with acceleration

Every now and then, usually if my car sits for a day or two, I will go to press the gas and the engine won't rev or if it does, it will barely do so. As soon as I do let off the gas though the car will act completely normal. I asked on another forum and they said it may be a carbon build up. I did notify my local Acura dealer techs last time I was there but they could no recreate the problem and didn't have a solution for me.

Any help?

Car is a 2003 TL-S, all stock internals

Clean up the throttle body, while your at clean and check the oil passages on the intake mani. Maybe seafoam it up after you clean and see what happens. There is a write up on taking the mai and throttle body apart and it only takes about 2 hrs start to finish depending how mechanically inclined you are and how dirty everything is

I agree- start with removal of intake manifold and throttle body for cleaning of the EGR passage and ports,
plus service/clean the IACV idle air control on bottom of throttle body- clean inside TB-- the round plate that opens-
get both sides and edges -use toothbrush and carb cleaner as needed
a wire coat hanger and 3 cans carb cleaner are needed for the manifold egr soak and poke
See diy on egr cleaning for more help

also look at the PCV over rear valve cover- the ball inside needs to roll freely -
it vents the crankcase pressure so you dont get things like rear main seal oil leaks!
