Trunk wont latch

after opening with remote, the trunk refused to latch again.
took it to the dealer as I had no tools, no place to find parts, and no clue as to how I would fix this issue
with parts this is reported to cost aprox 300 parts and labor.

my backside is feeling sore.

how would you have handled this?

What did they indicate was the problem? I haven't messed with that but it should be pretty straightforward. Did the part that opens to allow the lid to open return to a normal position after being opened? Does the trunk rel. button on the door work? How much of the charge is labor?

was "fixed" but I have to really apply more pressure than I expected after it was returned to me.
The job was 128.12 in parts and 186.00 in labor
that and an oil change was 373 and change
the svc mgr gave me as many discounts as possible, but still took a 305.91 bite out of my wallet. (with tax)
What I want to know now is:
Is is reasonable to expect the trunk to latch without having to slam it?
I was expecting to add a wing and feel that this may end up permanently imprinting my fingerprints in the fiberglass.

they only said that the tech reccomended the latch and post be replaced.

but I will take it back this most likely tuesday to ask them to check it again.

now that this is replaced and it takes work to get it to latch...I wonder if the trunk needs to be positioned correctly. maybe I was hit in the parking lot without knowing it? who knows? but I can't see spending that much and still having issues with it.

Clean up the latch and lube it. Use similar U-hook and push it down on the latch and see why it is not latched. could be your seal is blocking the trunk lid to go down further for the hook to get latched.
