Trunk
Trunk
Hello, does anyone know why I am unable to open my trunk remotely? I have a 2001 TL. I doublechecked my glove compartment to ensure that the remote trunk opening switch is turned on. A dealer mechanic does not think that the motor is bad, but he won't elaborate on the condition unless I pay him. Any insights you could provide would be most appreciated! Thanks.
Welcome to the forum. As 1995hoo said, this belongs in the 2G TL forum, and I am moving it there.

First, does your remote control work for other functions, such as lock and unlock?
If it doesn't, then you need to check the battery and/or synchronize it with the receiver to receive the commands.
Second, when you push the trunk open button on the driver side door, does the trunk open?
If yes, then the problem most likely lies with the keyless remote unit not being synchronized with the car or a dead battery.
If no, then the solenoid for opening the trunk is dead. You will have to get that replaced.
