trouble shooting headlight issues
trouble shooting headlight issues
Sorry if this topic had been beat down, I just joined today. I have a 2001 tl and have been having headlight issues for about 6 months. I replaced both HID bulbs and that fixed the passenger side but did not totally fix the driver side. It would come on and then go off. I have checked the fuses and relays. Now the passenger side is starting to be inconsistent as well. I am willing to pull of the bumper cover and replace what needs to be replaced, if everything is the easiest, that's ok. I am just looking for some confirmation when you purchase a headlight assembly are you getting the ballast, igniter, inverter, etc....? I am not even sure what to replace here. Thanks for any help.
welcome, and this is a common prob right now
buy a complete kit from hidextra.com or ddmtuning.com, both are well known and trusted sellers on here,, with prices below cheap!
how about way under 100 for everything for both sides!, you can eliminate the new bulbs from kit or keep as spares- always a good plan~
what brand bulbs did you install?
the kits mentioned above have everything from ballast- capacitor, control module-wiring,,
all you do is cut the normal power leads to ballast to splice new connectors in- rip old stuff out and toss, Install new much better-waterproof- click connector setup
dont trust the double stick tape for ballast, use bracket or good ol zipties and the tape
to secure to frame rail
rest of the extra wire goes under the housing as it slides into place on the car
Yes the bumper cover comes off for this, get a few of the special clips that hold lower engine covers on, some will refuse to go back in-
think of a used expansion bolt in drywall- expands in center and wont push back in the hole after removed!
a little modding to accept new wires to bulbs is needed- simple cut
