what's up guys quick question. on my car when I started up the first 10 to 15 minutes when I use the trip Tronic it's pretty stiff seems like I have to use a lot of force. any suggestions

 

ck the lube on shifter assembly under car
SS works off microswitches under the shifter, spill anything in the cup holder area?

changed the atf recently--within last year or 2?

car year and miles? trans replacement history,,any other background?

 

hows it shift if left in D5? smooth, jerks between gears, shudders,,slips??

why are you using SS anyway?
it just encourages high rpm downshifts, creating heat, causing excess wear on 2nd and 3rd gear clutches--makes for early trans death

 

2003 with 123,750 miles. but that makes sense because I have spilled stuff inside the cupholder

 

I also changed the automatic transmission fluid last month

 

car runs good on D5 no slipping

you used what atf? hondas new dw-1? a 1 drain and refill= 3.4qt change?
or more times?

did you recheck the fluid level per book??? the trans drains between 3 and 3.4 qts,,add 3 and you may be low!!
15 minute freeway cruise from cold- then immediatly ck. parked, engine off,
fluid level shows `between the dots`

as fluid temp changes, so does the indicated level

the 'Ol Spilled soda in the cupholders trick,,been there
get some crc electrical spray contact cleaner

cheater method- shoot liberally thru shifter plate and pray

Correct method: as the switches are located on the underside of a plastic plate beneath the shifter--remove side console- provides access to switches
spray clean them- 3 total- ck for arcing or melted appearance (if system doesnt work or acts funny)
not too expensive, getting to them is the major labor part of the job

diy section has help on panel removal
