First time to the forums. I don't know much about cars, so I really need all you experts' inputs on this.

I drive a 02 TL (not type S). As I reach speed upwards of 130 km/h (~80 mph), the car starts trembling a little bit... not really crazy, but certainly noticeable. I inherited the car from my brother, and I don't recall seeing that while he was driving it. Is this the dreaded tranny failure?

I never had my tranny replaced, and I have around 70000 km (43750 miles).

I skimmed through the long thread of the tranny failure, and most of the posts were citing a failure transitioning from 2nd to 3rd... so is it due to my tires being unbalanced?

Sorry if I sound like a dumbass, but I just hope it's not the tranny failing on me.

Trans typically dont give off symptoms like that. I would first start with having the tires re-balanced

 

agree- tire balance and have them check the cv joints while its on the rack
Tell the tire place you have a hi speed vibration

 

seems like worpe rotors to me...same thing happens to me when im at that speed sometimes and when pressing the brakes to slow down at speeds of 60 mph...I havent gotten a chance to change my rotors yet... ...that would be one of the things to check on your list...i could be wrong...
