transmissions differ from canadian to american models
so basically i was having some work done on my car and i realized that my car did not have transmission cooler kit, seeing that i had read a post on here about it before i called acura dealer and asked them about it and long story short they told me there was no such part and i shouldnt listen to what people say online, now my question is is there any member from canada on here that ever gotten there transmission cooler kit done
No difference in transmissions between countries. The transmission recall in Canada was the same as U.S. You were dealing with a stupid service "advisor". It may also help to use the terms "transmission oil jet kit" or just "transmission recall". A "transmission cooler" is something else that is used if you tow a trailer. I don't know if you qualify, though, since I think the limit was 7 years. Call Acura Canada and give them your VIN and they should say whether it would even apply to your car, if you're still eligible, if it was ever done by a dealer, etc.
agree- you asked the wrong question,, and too low on the totem pole
Talk to PARTS or Service MANAGER
never believe a word from the mouth of SALES/Service Writers-
they sell repairs.. not freebies
the RECALL- govt mandated fix- was for an external oil line run up to the filler hole bolt (thru a special bolt unit) to spray trans fluid directly on 2nd gear shaft- and effect cooling to it-
but it is in no way a seperate oil cooler-
we dont have one- it doesnt help our problem if you install one~
I am not aware of time limit on RECALLS-
(not to be confused with special extended warranties on problem parts)
does anyone have actual - factual info on this--usa vs canada?
Someone else in the great North recently had the same problem- local dealer denying recall install of oil jet kit--
that ziner wrote letter with lawyer buddy to dealer manager, and now the service dept wants the car right away to get that recall done!
If the failure occurs- the 2nd gear shaft BREAKS-snaps-shatters.... while going 70mph!!
pretty exciting ride and sudden slowing- sometimes loss of control~
Gives tailgaters heart failure~
dealer would have to be off their rocker to deny a safety recall like this!
(all recalls are for consumer safety,, if you want to get technical--toasters that catch fire-paint with lead,, cars that stop suddenly on the freeway)
Its not like you are asking for a rattle to be fixed afte 10 years..this is a safety issue
call acura canada and ask them iirc its 1-888-9acura9
