Transmission or Speed Sensor

Just wanted to check with the community before taking my car into the shop. I have a 2003 Acura TL - P and recently had some transmission related issues. I was driving down the highway and slowed down for traffic, attempted changing lanes and noticed car was not responding to me stepping on the gas. I pulled over to the shoulder and checked shifting into all gears and was still not getting any response while pressing gas. Towed off parkway and dropped the car in a BK parking lot. Checked shifting again and it began engaging again. Went into BK came back and shifting is not engaging. Call AAA to tow back home. When dropped of I was able to park the TL using its own power. Came back in the evening to check with code reader and Honda diagnostic software. Switching gears continued without any response from transmission. Hooked up the code reader and got code that I have seen in the past and had not had time to remediate but no Transmission specific codes. I was under the impression when our Transmission goes you would get transmission specific codes in the 1700 family. Codes pulled by generic code readear was P0141 and P1456. The Honda Specific code are pictured below. I was thinking that maybe the speed sensor code may be the culprit but I have had the speed sensor issue without any transmission issues in the past.

Definitely the trans if you were pressing the gas, engine revved and you didn't move.

I see the logic but unsure why it would start working again intermittently.

Got the car to dealership down the hill from my house. Car moves by slightly stepping on the gas pedal. But once you get it going you gotta keep moving cause once you stop car will need a rest period before it goes again. I made it down the hill then a jeep in front of me was moving slow so I broke down in front of a church. I decided to change the ATF while the car rested. Old ATF is black with slight tint of red ATF on side of drain pan. After about 1 hr I started car up and go it to move again. Stealership is two blocks down from where I was parked. Seems car transmission is not getting out of lower gears. Stepping on the gas just over revs. Lets see what stealership comes back with.

Dealership called back representative stated they did a few diagnostic items and went for a road test and the P0700 code finally came up. Time to shop for an Accord Transmission and a shop to replace. Here thread with the most information on the swap.

Damn dealership did not even check the filter located on the top part of the transmission. Would it be worth a shot to change out and see if this helps the situation at all, or am I barking up the wrong tree.

You're at their mercy now. It's doubtful that the filter would be the real problem, but stranger things have been known to happen with our problematic trannys.

Barking won't help much....let them give ya a fully detailed diagnostic and estimate for repairs. Then go find a '06>'07 Accord V-6 with the 5 speed AT to be a donor transplant for much less money.
