Transmission question

I have a 2003 TL-S and my tranny is GONE I was wondering should I do the rebuild or just go for the AV6 tranny? Also if someone can gauge the price of each that would be great!

Welcome AcuraGangg !!!
Don't waste your time or money on a rebuild. The "AV6" is the way to go !!!

Locate a donor low mileage '06>'07 Honda Accord V6 tranny at an auto recycler for less than $1000 and then find a local shop willing to drop in the direct replacement AV6 for ya. Labor installing the AV6 will be about $500. Read up on the previous threads concerning the AV6 being used as a replacement for our 2nd Gen's problematic 5 speed AT trannys. It'll provide years of satisfaction.

I'm curious... When you talk about the tranny slipping... does it make a sort of "growling" sound? My '02 TL S is making this noise at about 40 mph and under 1200 rpms. Could this be my trans. slipping? Bought used last year and have some records on maintenance but, have not looked into them. Will def. do this now after reading all the posts! Also, looking for an honest mechanic who doesn't treat every woman like she is clueless about cars. Live in Mt Washington Valley NH. Any referrals?

I should also mention I have no codes and when I let off the gas it stops. When cruising at 40ish and just feather foot on the gas is when this happens.

Growling, or whining sound? My trans makes a whining sound on light throttle and has done it for years (Acura rebuilt from 2008). Jerky shifts are the issue indicating an impending problem, but bad engine mounts can also cause jerks when shifting.
