Sooo lately ive been noticing a change in the way my car shifts gears, and im always worrying my self ohh man can it be my transmission? my cousin and i both have a TL mine a 99 and his a 01, now i dont know if its because he has the 5 speed tranny but when i drive his car his acceleration seem alot smoother than mine compared to when i accelerate mine it just jumps up quick.. Well i left him with my car while i went on vacation and had him drive my car for a few mins every couple of days. well he gives me a call this morning telling me that he took my car on the highway and he gunned it a bit to see how well my car responded.. he told me the car revved. pretty high and stayed that way until finally it changed but jerked a bit.. so now im REALLY worried, sometimes i tell my self i want to sell the car but with the way the economy is right now i cant afford to make payments on a new one.. but i dont want to have to spend alot of money on changing a transmission on a car that had the tranny rebuilt already less than a year ago.. i might have to take the loss and sell it.. im looking into buying a 2003 TL-S or a 2004 TL-P.. obviously the 2003 is cheaper but i figure if im going to upgrade on a car, i might as well fully upgrade... what do you guys think??

you should talk to whoever rebuilt it- if its actually slipping- thats a clutch issue inside the trans and should be a warranty covered problem
Even if over a 12/12 warranty as example- you can negotiate on prices -especially if the shop did the work themself
Whats the story on the rebuild??- and car miles then and now??
You may need to clean an external selenoid- some 99s have found that to fix shifting probs
An 03 may not be covered by the extended trans warranty to 109k miles, have to check the VIN to know, and 04 was still using the same basic trans and only covered to 50k miles!
If you otherwise like your TL, get it fixed and keep driving
At least its not dropping in value every day like a new car does

If it was rebuilt less than a year ago bring it back to who ever did it.

I know but the only problem is the 04 TL has the same kind of transmission that the 2001-2003... and at the end me getting into a 2004 that cost probably 6Gs more is going to hurt my pocket pretty bad.. i would fix my transmission but if my transmission already got fixed before, maybe its just not meant to be, and i do not want to throw so much money into a 99 that i know im not going to keep forever and i will end up losing alot of money.
