Fluid color seems okay pinkish red, cleaned shift solenoid valve B>C, cleaned side and upper dual linear solenoid, replace pressure switches 2nd and 3rd no improvement. Seems like my 2nd gear clutch pack is toast and 3rd is also on its way out. now i have to manually shift from 1st and skip 2nd straight to 3rd and still having slippage while on 3rd w/ surprises of all kinds of warning lights illuminating dash.. i came to a conclusion that these kind of weak trans could not withstand my daily driving routine. Now its all about selling the car or replace 5th transmission.

You have a 99? I was going to say hey go for AV6 but if you have a 99 it's amazing you are on a 5th transmission...

How is you daily driving routine? I have a first gen B7WA (No blue bolts) and I Sport Shift since I rebuild it back in 2009 when I say I SS all day I'm not kidding this trans has only seen D5 for about 10-15% since it was rebuild, hit VTAK on a weekly basis and it's been fine all this time. The trick seems to be 2x ATF Coolers and changing ATF every December OR I'm just a lucky SOB...

Either way I shall repeat the same Wise Words you have seen in this board! Do you really want a new car monthly payments? The TL is an awesome car and blah blah blah you know the drill.

It's my nephews 99 it's sad i couldnt do the AV6 swap. My daily driving isnt that much aggressive either and my fluid change interval is way earlier than manufacturers recommended changes (DW1) The trans is just way unpredictable it will break whenever it wants to break aggresive driving or not..unfortunately, i couldn't sell the car due to it being BROKEN DOWN i guess my only option is to just keep the car.

Your best bet will be J35A3 swap + AV6 to be bulletproof while having a massive jump in HP to make it worth your while... Is not going to be cheap but a rebuild is most of the time more expensive.

The 99 tl trans does not have the issues the 5 speed trans do. I am very surprised your on your 5th trans. My 99 has 276k and it hasnt been rebuilt yet. I tore it apart at 270k and all 4 clutch packs were within specs so I left it alone. If you are good with cars I would highly recommend rebuilding it yourself. Its cheap and offers a great learning experience.
