Transmission
I have a 2002 Acura TL I was traveling on the Turnpike and noticed the car just would not accelerate no matter how far I pushed the gas pedal. It then started smoking. I took it to have it looked at and the mechanic says I cant find anything wrong come and get the car. I get it home and check the transmission fluid and its brown? I am no good at car troubles or repair so any help would be great

Brown transmission fluid is at the very least a sign that the fluid is due for replacement, and at the very worst a sign that your transmission is burning up. If the fluid smells burnt (like burnt toast) then your transmission is definitely burning up.
You need to do a 3x3 transmission fluid drain and fill with Honda DW-1 fluid ONLY (drain 3 quarts, fill with 3 quarts and drive a couple miles, repeat 3 times). DO NOT FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION.
At 70MPH on the freeway my engine runs at about 1950 RPM. If you're higher than that by 100 or more RPM then your lockup clutch or torque converter is probably dying. Keep a very close eye on your MPG.
When you say it would not accelerate, does that mean that the RPMs were going up but the car was not going faster?
