Tranny Scare?

Hey guys, i'm not sure what is the deal but.... After going home from the car meet I decided to go out to eat with my girl. We went to On the border and after I came out to drive home, I turned my car on and notice that the tcs and the abs light was on. My check engine light was always on cuz of the 02 senser. I turned off my car and started again and the light was off...... What do this mean? My tranny going? I can feel the shift everytime is changes gears, but it's not really a hard shift. Maybe once in a couple times it shift hard. Also could it be something with my brakes? Cuz my car pulses everytime I brake and I resurface the rotors already. Help plz.

How much would a rebuild tranny be? Or should I just buy a used tranny? How much is it running for? Thanks.

It's hard to say. The TCS light is known to come on with transmission failures, but the ABS light should not. Them being on together would indicate a problem in the ABS system. From what you say the transmission in your car sounds fine. It's never going to be totally smooth.

The Tcs light will come on with most problems along with the check engine light. I dont know why but its the way honda designed the system. Those lights coming on together could be a bunch of things. If the abs light came on id be inclined to think it was something brake related

I have my ABS and TCS light on as well, and my steering is shaking when i brake a little too...I'm gonna take it to a brake mech. and let him check it out first. I'm almost positive it isn' the tranny though

For the 99 4sp trannys, what are the signs of tranny failure? Do the lights blink when you turn on the car or it post to blink all the time? I did a search and people said it's different for the 99 tl.

Call this number
FOR OWNERS OF THE TL AND CL VEHICLES. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

I just bought an 03 tls. Call them and give them the VIN, they will be able to tell you what recalls there are for your car, if and when the recalls were repaired and what dealership did the repairs.

Acura also extended the 7 year transmission warranty from the day the repairs were performed.

This is for U.S. only I think.
