tranny question
tranny question
I did a search on the "clunck" when cold and shifting into reverse. I have the same issue. The car will sit overnight and clunck when i leave out in the morning. When I leave work in the evening I do not notice it like in the mornings. I guess air temp plays a part. I will be going to the dealer soon to have this addressed. My question after searching for "reverse clunk" is I can't seem to understand how some people have been told the engine/tranny mounts are the problem. Could someone explain how temp affects the mounts.
thanks

mounts are a vacuum/fluid filled. If they are shot they are able to move alot causing the motor trans to move excessively. The question is weather or not the clunk is the trans or mounts
Our '00 TL has always seemed to have the clunk when engauging reverse since day one. It is now approaching 150k and for the last month has been producing a very high pitched wine in reverse, but only when cold. The fluid is full and does not smell burnt, but am not looking forward to the repair bill.
