Touch Screen not so touchy

For some reason my touchscreen works only when it wants to. If I touch certain areas on the screen a different button on the screen gets selected. Other times it doesnt work at all. I have tried cleaning but to no avail...any suggestions?

Have you tried disconnecting the car battery? Perhaps that would force some sort of reset of the unit. (Be sure to have your security codes available for your radio and nav unit.)

There is also built-in navigation system diagnostics menu that you can access by pressing Menu, Map and Cancel simultaneously for a few seconds. There's a touchscreen test grid option and maybe there's some sort of system reset option there.

You might also want to try removing the anti-glare coating altogether with alternating applications of Armor All and Endust computer screen wipes.

Paul Mooney describes this process on his navhelp.com site:

http://navhelp.com/other.html

The original touch screen display on my 1999 TL would not always respond to touch inputs. I removed the anti-glare coating but that didn't help.

Back in March I installed a used display that I bought on eBay. The new display works perfectly. Be aware that installation is a bit of a process. You have to remove a lot of parts to access the display.

Good luck!

Thanks. I have had the battery disconnected a few times and still no luck. I will try the diagnostic. How much did you pay for your screen?

My replacement screen was about $70 with shipping. (A new screen through Acura is insanely expensive.)
