thinking of buying a '0 TL type-S
I found a 2003 TL type-S for sale. Has 81,514 miles according to dealer post on Autotrader. I know there is a transmission problem but was told warranty was extended. I've also read that only some 2003's are covered under the extended warranty? The asking price is 4k and was wondering if I should get it after negotiating or go for a different car. I drive about 250-300 miles a week so I need a car that's reliable. Plus a few trips up the mountain for snowboarding.
Is there somewhere I can find out if the car I'm looking at is covered under the extended warranty? I'm thinking of calling Acura later on during the day to see if they can help. Should I get this car or just look for something else? Are there anything besides the transmission I should be worried about?
The exterior and interior look clean. I'll go test drive it maybe sometime next week since I'm swamped with work right now. Thanks for your help!

4gs is really low- whats wrong with it?
they know the trans is slipping and out of warranty-= dealer said 5 grand for trans replacement?
warranty is by VIN number and there is a list in our DIY section or look up online
its 7 years+9 months from date of new in service or 109kmiles,,(whichever first)
other concerns are timing belt job due at 7 years or 105-whichever first- expect 1000-1500 dollars to do it right
Brakes may need rotors and pads
other things to have inspected: tie rods and control arm bushings
rear wheel bearings
EGR ports clog and need service every 75kmiles
much as I love my TL, with 4 grand in my hand..I would buy a honda and use regular gas, cheaper everything and deals well with trips to snow
the TL cant take even use than skimpy cable chains!!

I found the car that you posted and I knew that the dealer sounded familiar. I don't have personal experience with them but that's because I have read very bad reviews about them online. I was looking for a car about half a year ago and they had such good prices (like this TL) on every car so I searched them up and saw that they basically trick you. A lot of people travel there from other states just to find out that they don't have the car they wanted and then they try to sell you another car. You could try them if you want but this is 99% a scam.
