TCS light
TCS light
My TCS light (1999 3.2TL) is coming on after the engine and transmission have warmed up. I'm not noticing any change in performance after the light comes on. Turning the Traction Control on and off doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas?
I'm having same problem. It started tonight my TCS is on an it's staying on. I push button to turn on/off/on/off, but the light still stay ON. Can this cause problem
What I have notice with the light ON I cann't accelerate has fast has I wanted.

TCS Light coming on.....
I'm having the same problem...the TCS light comes on and hitting the TCS button does zip. Is this an error or a normal situation ?
Anyone had to fix this problem ? Do I really need to fix it as TCS is not exactly mandatory ? Will the ABS (which is part of the TCS) also fail ?

it can be a sign of transmission problems so its rather important to have the codes read and report back here
Normally the light is OFF, if you pull out of a wet driveway and hit the gas full- the wheels speeds will differ and the TCS applies brake to the faster wheel and light flashes
System stops operating at 16mph/ 20kph
When you want to temporaily disable it, push the button so the light is ON

ok I have the same problem and my check engine light is on as well. I had the code read when teh TCS light was off and it only showed that that EGR is restricted. now TCS comes on sometimes and it stayes on while the car is running. if I turn the car off it will not be on and may or may not come back when I drive it again. will it only throw the code when the light is on or it wouldnt matter if there is a problem?
p.s. sorry got thread jack but this is mind "bottleing" haha

OK, so now I'm completely confused......
Hey TLer's :
In regards to the the TCM light coming on and the "tranny problem" replies above.
Please help me understand how the TCS system, which works as part of the ABS breaking system, is related to the transmission ?

Forget what you have read above. First Go and get the codes read. It will tell you what the code is and what it means. VERY often our TCS light will come on with the CEL light or by it self. There is no need to jump to conclusions right now as to what it is.

Or disconnect battery for a few minutes- clean the terminals while there- its always a good idea to do that yearly anyway, then pos cable on then neg cable on-
ECU is now reset- so is the security on the radio and nav so have those codes handy.
If you dont know the codes, use clock backup fuse method

But everyone NEEDS to know them
because at some point in time the car battery will need to be replaced-
and when it does- you need the codes right now!!!
I have yet to see a car the didnt need the battery terminals cleaned at the least. Good clean ground connections makes a better running car
