Taking off rear view mirror

I did't see this the thread form. Can any body tell me how to take off my rear view mirror. I need to replace it. And can you tell me a good brand of fog light to get for my o2 tl type S

There are also some DIY instructions with photos on Page 13 of the "Rear View Mirror Exploded" thread:

Be careful when you remove it since the windshield can crack if you apply too much force.

Also, did you purchase a replacement mirror? If so, be aware that the manufacturer of the mirror, Magna Donnelly, had been sending out free replacement for over a year. They sent me a free mirror for my 1999 TL.

According to the most recent posts in the linked thread, they have suspended the replacement program but that might only be temporary. Check out the thread for more info.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I have not got the new mirror yet, but it looks like it might start to leak because there is soft spot on the mirror. I will be sure to look into a replacement mirror, thanks for the heads-up on that.

leakers are replaced no charge- call them or email and be careful- that stuff is bad news if it gets all over you and the car!
