Stuck in D2. Won't shift
Stuck in D2. Won't shift
I have a 2000 Acura TL 3.2 Automatic.
Last night when I got home from work, I went to parallel park. As I was trying to shift from D4 to R, the shifter wouldn't shift into P N or R.
I pushed the car into the spot & put emergency brake on.
So now...the car is in P because I used a screwdriver to push the button on the side down. But the dashboard reads D2. I can't start the car. In order to get it out of P, I have to push the button down on the side with a screwdriver. Once I have it out of PNR, I can shift it all over from D5 to D1 but the dash only changes when it goes from D1 to D2 and vice versa. I can't get it from D5 to PNR with the shifter either.
This is really strange. I can't start the car because the dash thinks its in D2. My brake lights work.
Has anyone ever dealt with this???

hows the battery condition- age? I got weird gear lights- when batt dies
reset the ECU by removing CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash for 1 minute then reinsert
could be neutral safety switch failure, brake light switch loose or worn even though all lights work
OR the BIG question asked above--any soda juice water or other liquids find their way into the cupholders??
which have direct access for liquid to get to the shift system 3 micro-switches located under- brilliant!!
