Question Stock Tires ---- Please Help

Hey guys I tried to do a search but came up with nothing. I was just wondering if our stock tires are O.K, because my dad was driving my car and said it doesn't feel right when going over the smallest little bumps. I drove the car and noticed it aswell, it was aloways there but now its annoying because I know its there. My dad is always comlpaining about my car and saying i should have just gotten a 05 corrola like him . could anyone give me some advice on how to go about fixing that rattling/rough ride. I live in vancouver area so the roads aren't bad. its something with the car that i can't figure out. Please help me prove my dad wrong about a TL being better than a Corrola lol

Thanks

What tires exactly? How many miles on them?

What do you mean "doesn't feel right"? The rattling may be suspension components that are worn out and need replacing. This could also explain the rough ride. Although the TL's do have a slightly stiffer suspension for better handling. They are sport sedans, that's how they are. Toyota's typically have a soft (but mushy) ride because they are family sedans and families typically want a soft ride. You cannot compare the two.

A Toyota Corolla is NOT a better car than a TL. It just gets better gas mileage.

Yes a little more detail would help. There could be many things causing issues. GIve us more info. Tires brand, miles on them, size, year and mileage of car. A better description of whats feeling weird other than "Doesnt feel right"

Sahota001, the TL is a higher performance car than the whimpy Corolla. The TL has firmer suspension tuning (even more so for the TL-S) and can take corners at speeds that the Corolla can only dream of. In addition, the TL steering is more precise and has more road-feel than the numb Corolla steering. All these add up so it is normal for the TL to feel the smallest little bumps on the roads. I would start to worry if my TL feels the same as the whimpy Corolla.

hey guys sorry i couldn't reply sooner, but my TL has about 107 XXX KMS and it has the stock tires i think. which are the michelin ones its too dark to go check the exact brand but i will in the morning. What i meant by "doesn't feel right" was that it isn't quiet like a luxury but if the car is more like a sport sedan it does make more sense, but is it worth it to get the tires replaced? if so which tires would be best for a 2002 TL/P

It's time to replace your tires if they have 107k. According to Tire Rack, Michellin Exalto A/S has the best rating.

ok great, well i hope that will reduce the rough ride abit. I also had another question about how to remove rust from my brakes, its on the disc and caliper?

you can try yokohamas or toyo tires instead of the stock michellins. Get an all season touring tire rather than a summer performance one as the rubber compound is probably more suitable to your region...

Michellins are good tires and offer a long tread life however i found the stock tires to be a bit noisy and expensive IMHO.

Also to comment on the corolla comparision, you may be comparing 16-17" rims on a TL versus the 14-15" on the toyota. The ride is definitely like night and day.
