Steering wheel vibrates horribly!! Brake problem, help please.
Hello my fellow TL peeps, whew!!! Its been like a super long time since I've been on here.
Well anyways, I have a huge problem with my TL-S. Whenever I brake at high speeds on the freeway or even at low speeds like 30-40 mph my steering wheel vibrates horribly. I know for a fact that its a brake problem, that I know.
My main question is. Do you really have to take your car to Acura or to a shop that puts the actual machine up to your brake rotors so the rotors can get machined? I was told by the Acura serv. guys that on the TL-S you caint just take the rotors off and take them to a shop to get cut. They told me that TL-S rotors have to stay on the car and have the cutting machine for the rotors be brought up to the car to machine the rotors at the specs of the TL-S.
Now is that a bunch of BS? Or are they being for real? I took my car once already to Brake Stop and I believe those bastards took me for my money. They supposeably fixed the problem but like in 2 months the vibrating came back. They told me theres no need to do all that, that Acura says you have to do. You can take the rotors off the car and machine them.
I just want to know if anyone does what Acura says to do, or do they just take the rotors off them selfs and take them to a shop to get machined? When ever I had brake problems on my 99 2dr accord I would just fix the problem my self. I would do my own brake job at home. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it sounds like your brakes are warped i had similar problems with my brakes all i had to do is resurface the rotors the car been braking perfect...........only if the rotors are to thin to resurface or too badly warped will you have to buy new ones
Your dealer was feeding you a load of crap. You can take your rotors to any mechanic to have them turned, worked on. but like the others have said. Do yourself a favor and get rid of them and get some aftermarket rotors. They are far less likely to warp.
Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that. Most likely Im just gonna go buy a whole new brake kit. I dont think my rotors can be machined anymore either way. Yeah the vibrating has gotten worse, even people that ride with me in front feel the whole vibration, its pretty bad.

Don't evern waste your $$$ to resurface the stock rotors. Spend your money on Rotora or some decent brand. You would feel more secure when braking.
Also, make sure you "bed" the brake pads properly. I replaced my front rotors and pads and they squeled like crazy when braking at low speed (before the car stop). After I properly "bed" the brake pads, the squealing is now gone.
Just my $0.02
