sitting in the dealership right now....

.....in the customer service lounge.

had to bring my car in today because i couldnt figure out what my coolant/radiator problem is. i realized that if i didnt get it taken care of today, i'd probably fry my engine.

i'm pretty sure that the fan isnt coming on like its supposed to. it would come on after i turned the car off in the past, and before i only noticed my temp needle move past half-way once(on the way to vegas in the summer on an uphill grade - i turned on my heater and it was never a problem again.) In the past week my temp needle has been bouncing between 1/2 and 2/3 marks like a sing-a-long bounce ball. today i had to crank up the heater just to make it to the dealer.

i tried a coolant drain/refill last week but to no avail. i may have made it worse, but i doubt it since its not that hard to do it yourself anyway. we'll see what the verdict is. Any thoughts/predictions?

Parts + Labor diagnosing the problem = 400.. If you knew the problem then sure it could be done cheaper.

How many times do we have to say it??
- if the fan runs and runs after the car is shut off...check the fan sensor on the bottem of the radiator, and when you DIY coolant change make sure to follow the BOOK instructions on air burping, or you WILL create a new problem for yourself.

If the temp goes over 1/2 or acts erratic- check thermostat

Check the hose condition too, our cars are getting some age and miles on them,
dramatic sudden coolant hose failure sucks, and not in a good way~
