So I found out earlier tonight that my 2nd transmission on my 99 is starting to go bad and I have it for two years and put 47K on it. The dealership told me its not worth getting a new one from them (its gonna cost me 5k from them) and I got quoted between 1800 to 2500 to rebuild it. I definitely dont want to spend more money than I have to...so now im debating if i should sell it for parts or sell the car? Any suggestions?

If you can sell the car as a whole, that's the least painful way to do it. Parting out will probably net you more money in the end, but it's a pain to do it, unless you have someone else do it for you.

If you're up to parting it out, I say do that.

yeah I was thinking sell the parts would probably be better, i might just do that. I just need to get a new car before I start part ways with my car.... no pun intended

I have a 99 4sp tranny from my TL if you want I rebuilt it to be a spare for my TL. Hate to see you get rid of it. Can't sell it for what it worth with a bad tranny.
