Scraping noise coming from tires when moving.
2002 TL 3.2
When the car is rolling along, there is a slight scraping noise coming from the back right tire area. It's not extremely loud, if you were to take a butter knife and lightly rub it against the bottom of a metal pan in a circular motion, that's how it sounds. Ridiculous description, but it's the best way I can describe it. It seems significantly louder when breaking going downhill. It's really noticeable when driving beside a wall or guardrail to reflect the sound back when the windows are down.
When I'm breaking, the steering wheel vibrates which means the rotors need to be resurfaced. Could this sound possibly be related to that or is it a different issue entirely?
I just recently became really interested in vehicles, so I'm not the most informed when trying to self-diagnose a vehicle problem.

Sounds like a brake issue. You may have a caliper thats frozen. You should inspect the brakes and make sure they are working properly in the rear (known to freeze up)
Also one tip on these cars. Dont turn the rotors. Replace them. They have a known issue of warping and turning them makes them more prone to warping.

There is no problem with turning the factory rotos. I've turned mine 3x and no signs of ever warping. If your vehicle is dropped or you have disconnected the fenderlining. It sounds like the fenderlining is rubbing the tire when the suspension is compressed. Keep me updated.

sorry and yeah the person that posted above me about it being brakes...yes i stand corrected there is no fender lining in the rear. Unless you jus added low offset really wide rims and its scrubbing against the strut itself.
