scary idle this morning

One problem I have never had is idle issues.
The TL started up like a diesel truck this morning.
No rpm jumps, just really rough. I could see the engine shaking around and when I gave it gas it was even worse.
Sounded and felt awful.
I let this go one for about a minute while I inspected under the hood. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Shut the car off, restarted perfect....drove to work no problem. Three hours later I went out started it again and its smooth as butter.
What the hell was that all about? I hope it was all a bad dream

Same thing happen to me. My check engine light was on also, my buddy connected his diagnostic device which indicated idle control malfuction usually do the excessive moisture, bad gas or dirty filter.

I'll check into that. No lights came on or anything but maybe I can still get a code pulled. I baby this car and never use cheap gas. I hope it was just a fluke.

Driving home I felt it sputter again, shortly after that CEL came on.
Was close enough to my mechanic to get codes read. Cylinder 2 and 4 misfire.
He was starting to leave for the night and reset everything for me. Drive home was fine. Maybe it was bad gas? He said drive it, if it comes back he will open it up and check everything. I just happen to catch him really late today.
I know it could or could not return. But it should be safe driving it right? Don't want to do any major harm.

Clean TB and/or IAC Valve. Do the easy one first is to spray your TB butterfly flap. Try to catch all that gunk trying to run down the hole that leads to the iac valve.

Its the coil's, need two of them. Mechanic switched them around to pinpoint which were bad. coil 1 and 4. These are easy enough to do myself. Also $50 each isn't all that bad.

Any picture or diagram on the firing order? Cylinder numbers.
Is it 1,3,5 on the front of the car and 2,4,6 towards the firewall?

Picked up a coil today and started at #1. Pretty much ended right there. When I took it out it fell apart ,broke into two parts. Put new one in, reset the ecu and so far so good.
This thing was in bad shape wonder what caused it. Looked at #4 and it looked new. Some reason that one got cooked.

This is how it came out. I don't see a problem here.
