Question sarcasm owns me

i mad a sarcastic post about breaking a tranny... i dont really want to break it i just wanted to know the best route for me to take....
the rundown:
just bought 01 tl, 66k, extended warranty is about to expire on the trans, acura says it was never replaced.... what should i do? i dont want to get stuck with car payments on a car that will have tranny problems in no time. is there any way to get it replaced under warranty without it having symptoms? is there a way to make sure it wont fail (ie: replace that gear/tranny cooler/etc)? would acura know if the car went in to have the oil jet put in, and does that ever permanently fix it? any help is greatly appreciated.

p.s. this is my g/f car so i dont want it to fail and her get hurt.

You should be covered by ext. transmission warranty due to class action lawsuit until car is 93 months old from orig. in service date or until it has 109 k miles. YOu should have awhile until that runs out. From what I have read, there is nothing you can do in terms of maintenance to extend life of transmission other than just changing fluid per severe use schedule from Acura so they can't blame it on you if tranny fails. The oil jet kit recall is not going to prevent the tranny from failing. There are 2 separate problems with our tranny and the oil jet kit only prevents one problem from occurring. Hope this helps.

There is nothing you can do to get a new tranny if yours isnt bad. You can register with acuras owner link and it will tell you info on what recall/warranty info is still available. The trans has a 7year 9 month 109k mile warranty. There is nothing you have to do to get it. It comes with the car. The Oil jet is for a completely different issue and wont do any thing to keep the trans from failing. There also is nothing else you can do to keep it from failing. All you can do is just keep driving the car and make sure that all the regular maintenance is done when it needs to be

the car was originally purchased Oct 24th 2000. so my warranty expires in less than 6 months. is there any way to differentiate (sp) the original (bad) trannys from the new ones that actually fix the problem? if the tranny were to go bad (pray for me) how much would it cost to buy just the new (and improved) tranny? not labor just the tranny itself? also it seems that people who use the sport shift more (from what i have read not actual statistics) seem to have tranny failure earlier... so should i refrain from using this feature? thanks for all the help guys.

As a result of a class action lawsuit settlement, Acura increased the 7 year warranty by 9 months to 93 months. (7 years = 84 months, 84 + 9 = 93).

That warranty period starts from the original sales date of the car.
