If your trans is slipping badly, I think you'd be lucky to get $1000 on craigslist. You could clean it up really good, and try to trade it in. You might find a dealer who doesn't road test it, and offers you the typical inflated trade in. Just make sure they don't reciprocate on what you're buying.

First see if theres any hope, if the D5 light is blinking you may have a broken connector or something simpler, such as low fluid or drain and fill, Then decide from there.
List it as $1000 you will have low ballers regardless, depends on the condition of the interior and exterior also.

No d5 light flashing I drove it about 4 miles yesterday it just high revs on 2nd gear or 3rd gear but if I don't press the gas and let the car glide a little and then give it gas it will shift

Your transmission needs some attention. What code does it show?

Yeah, have the CEL codes read before ya do anything. There may be something simple, such as a restricted solenoid. Have ya tried anything yet ? A drain & fill along with replacing the tranny's inline filter may help temporarily. If the car is in nice shape overall, an '03 TL would be well worth spending some money on installing an "AV6" donor tranny into for about $1500.

Try some Seafoam Transtune first. It'll clean any sludge out of valves and solenoids. If it resolves the issue, immediately do a full flush fluid change and change both filters. Like others mentioned, it could also be something simple.

An 03 with a slipping tranny is a parts car if it isn't a cheap fix. I read somewhere that about 60% of all auto tranny rebuilds are unnecessary. It could be as simple as oxidized tranny fluid, a bad solenoid, or a blocked fluid port.
